FINE TIME: Patek Philippe’s inaugural “Watch Art Grand Exhibition” opened in Dubai last week. Over 400 rare timepieces, some dating back to the 17th century, are on display. The jewel in the crown of the exhibition is the Patek Philippe Star Caliber 2000, considered the third most complicated timepiece ever made. It took the company nine years to develop the watch, which is not for sale. The exhibition also includes a recreated workshop where Patek’s watchmakers can demonstrate the complexity of their work. The Stern family, owners of Patek Philippe, launched the exhibit in the Middle East to “thank customers for their loyalty,” said Thierry Stern, president. “We have been in Dubai for over 50 years now. This is a strong market increasing year after year with a lot of collectors willing to invest in Patek Philippe.”
